"You don't choose the moustache, it chooses you"

A FAKOF szervezőbizottsága óriási kezdeményezéshez való csatlakozásra buzdítja lelkes olvasóit, résztvevőit, szimpatizánsait.

Mo Bros and Sistas!!!

FAKOF, as an open-minded series of events and - we may say without exaggeration- a cultural phenomenon that respects everyone's dissimilarity of opinion, is proud to introduce you a (not only) fun event from the sunshiny Australia: Movember. What is this? (Citation from the Movember homepage.)

"Movember (the month formerly known as November) is an annual charity event held during November.
At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustcache - or simply Mo -, raising money along the way to benefit men's health - specifically prostate cancer and male depression.
Movember culminates at the end of the month at official Gala Partés, Mo-Office and Mo-Town parties where Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to be the Man of Movember.
While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (ladies who support their guys or just love Mo's!) form an important part of Movember by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds and attending the highly anticipated Gala Partés.
But it' s not all fun and games, so why the extreme behavior?
Which ever way we look at it, men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy for men is five years less than for women.

The obvious question is why?

Men lack awareness about the very real health issues they face. There is an attitude that they have to be tough - "a real man" - and are reluctant to see a doctor about an illness or go for regular medical checks.
Movember aims to change these attitudes and make men's health fun by putting the Mo back on the face of fashion and in the process raise some serious funds for key men's health issues.
Prostate Cancer:
because every year thousands of men die of prostate cancer.
Depression in Men: because one in six men experience depression at any given time but most don't seek help."

Movember had no registrations from Hungary so far so this is the very opportunity for us to be the first to join it from Hungary. Also, Movember has no contact with any organisation in Hungary to rase funds for, so now we can only donate for organisations of other countries but why should this stay this way for ever? It is a good start to increase Movember awareness in Hungary this year and then maybe move on with fund-raising later on.

I want to join now, what should I do?
Visit the Movember website, choose "Living Elsewhere" and follow the instructions for registration. Mo Bros, 1 November shave your faces and then let your moustaches grow for the entire month. The rules are simple:
  1. Once registered each Mo Bro must start November 1st with a clean shaven face .
  2. Then, for the entire month of Movember each Mo Bro must grow and groom a moustache according to these rules:
  • There are no beards.
  • There are no goatees.
  • A small comlimentary growth under the bottom lip is allowed (aka a tickler).
As part of Movember we are going to hold weekly meetings to see Mos grow. We encourage each Mo Bro to make photos of his Mo every week. The month will end with a final Mo Town Party where Man of Movember will be chosen whose photo will be published on this site. Details later.
Open-minded Bros and Sistas, join us and let us start off this Saturday!
